The economy of Las Vegas is a fickle one - the money all comes from other places around the country and the world. As such, if there is no money at other places, it dries up really quickly in Vegas. That is what we are currently experiencing at this time and the situation does not show any signs of real improvement.
That is not to say there are no jobs out there - because there is. Around a month ago the City Center opened at what many would consider the wrong time and fueled jobs in both construction and tourist industry. The same can be said for entertainment venues and casino hotels across the city - but these jobs are becoming harder and harder to find due to so many people looking. Many wonder when this will improve and in all honesty it will take years - perhaps even decades.
The employment situation in Las Vegas has created an "Employers Market" where only the strong employees will survive. Do you have what it takes? If you have been out of work for a long time it might be a good idea to consider your options. One that many people overlook is the opportunities that are provided by volunteering your time. You can make new networks, build up your resume, and feel really good about yourself while helping others. If you need help finding a place to start, check out the Volunteers of Southern Nevada - they have everything you might need.
